From  The first session of the Twenty-first General Assembly of  the State of Tennessee 1835-6
Section 1 Be it Enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Tennessee, That for the purpose of Establishing a communication by rail road from some point in Middle Tennessee of the proposed route of the New Orleans and nashville Rail Road, to the Virginia line, at the eastern boundary of Tennessee, the Formation of a company to be called " The Middle and East Tennessee Rail Road Company," is hereby authorized; which, when formed, shall have corporate existence in the State of Tennessee
Sec. 2 Books for subscription, for forty-five thousand shares of the capital stock of the said company, of one hundred dollars each, shall be opened on the first monday in september next, and shall be kept open for six days, between the hours of ten o'clock in the morning and four o'clock in the evening of each of those days, at the following places, and by the following commissioners, ......

This indenture made this 22nd day of may 1817 between Jacob Kline of the County of Grainger and the State of Tenn. of the one part and William Newton of the county and state aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that the said Jacob Kline for and in consideration of the sum of 1 hundred and 25 dollars to him in hand paid the receipt where of is hereby acknowledged hand and by these presents doath grant bargain sell and confirm unto the said William Newton his heirs and assigns forever one certain tract or parcel of land containing one quarter of and acre and half quarter of acre lying and being in the county of Grainger and the state of Tennessee and in the town of Rutledge being lot number 35 in the plan of said town beginning on the south side of Main Street beginning at a stake between lot number 34 and 36 thence south 14 degrees East twelve poles to a stake thence south 76 degrees west 5 poles to a stake Corner to lot number 36 thence north 14 degrees west twelve poles to a stake on main street thence north 76 degrees east 5 poles to the beginning containing one quarter of and acre and 1 half quarter of said acre be the same more or less grants all rights rents title or interest to William Newton and his heirs forever

indenture made the 11th day of Dec in the year of our lord 1818 between John Shirley of the town of Rutledge county of Grainger State of Tennessee of the one part and Jacob Kline of the town, County and State aforesaid John Shirley sales for the sum of 50 dollars paid by Jacob Kline a certain tract or parcel of land adjoining the town of Rutledge beginning at the south side of Rutledge Creek Formerly Daniel Claytons Corner east 38 poles to a Wood ??? on the side of the cliff then north 2 poles to a stake in the middle of Richland Creek down the middle of the Creed for 46 poles to a stake in the middle of said creek to Mc Broons and Claytons line then south 2 poles to the beginning containing one and one half acres unto Jacob Kline

this indenture made between John Brown and Jacob Kline both of the County of Grainger the state of Tennessee and the town of Rutledge for consideration of the sum of $20.00 to him in hand paid by Jacob Kline confirms to Jacob Kline all title and rights to a parcel of land at the south east end of the town of Rutledge containing an unknown quantity of land beginning on a white Walnut on the edge of a drain thence down the drain until it intersects the main richland Creek along that creek to a large sycamore so as to include the whole benefit of the water of said creek and there on to the south line of the said town to the beginning to have and to hold

Know all men by these presents that I John Lowry formerly of Sullivan Co. in the state of Tennessee but now of Rutledge Grainger County for and in consideration of the natural love and affection I have and bear toward my son in law Jacob Kline and the love and affection I have towards my daughter Hannah wife of said Jacob for consideration that said Jacob Kline shall at all times hereafter furnish me the said John Lowry and wife Mary, during our natural life with good sufficient and comfortable support and apparel. I the said John Lowry for consideration afore said doth give to Jacob Kline the following negros and property one Negro man slave named Simon one Negro man slave named Hero one Negro woman names Jenny and her two children Hugh and Hannah together with their increase. Two Sorrel horses two beds and furniture with all my house hold and kitchen furniture, and farming utensils of every kind and description about one hundred gallons of Brandy to have and to hold to the said Jacob Kline his heirs and assigns forever free from the claims or interference ??? the said John Lowry or from the claim or title of all and all manner of persons whatever will warrant and defend by these presents that if at any time the said Jacob Kline should fail or refuse to furnish said John Lowry and his wife Mary with the support and apparel which is mentioned as the consideration for these presents then and in that case after request made to said Jacob Kline to furnish the support and apparel according to the true intent and meaning of these present the said John Lowry is to be at full liberty to take unto his possession and apply the same to his support all or any part of the Negroes and other property before mentioned and hold the same until the said Jacob Kline shall furnish the support and apparel fit and nessery provided and it is further agreed that if at any time during the natural life of the said John Lowry his wife Mary should absend and leave the bed and board of said John Lowry then and in that case the said Jacob Kline is not to be bound by these presents to furnish said Mary with support and apparel the same is required by said John Lowry in testimony whereof the said John Lowry have hereunto set my hand and seal this 2nd day of July 1821

Know by all men presents that I Jacob Kline of the County of Grainger and State of Tennessee for and in consideration of the natural love and affection which I bear to Louisa S.B. Hunt my daughter and to my Granddaughter Mary E. Hunt the infant daughter of the said Louisa have given granted and confirmed unto my son John L. Kline a negro girl slave name Ailcey aged about 17 years and by these presents do give grant and confirm unto the said John L. Kline the said negro girl Ailely or any children that may be born of her in trust ???? and for the purposes herein after explained. That my said daughter Louisa S.B. Hunt is to have the management and control of the said negro girl Ailey and her children if any and the benefit of their labors for and during the natural life of her the said Louisa S.B Hunt my daughter as aforesaid without the hindrance or disturbance of the aforesaid John L. Kline unless such interference of said trustee may become absolutely nessary for the preseveration of the property herein conveyed for my said granddaughter Mary Eliza Hunt and her brothers and sisters herein after to be born of then body of her said mother Louisa as herein after directed and free from the debts and liabilities of my son in law Thomas R. Hunt

Where as I william Easley have a fee simple interest in remainder to take effect and be united with the possession after the death ho Mary Easley my mother who has a life estate in the same in a tract of land in the county of Grainger and the State of Tennessee it being the tract of land upon which the said Mary Easley now lives and i also having a fee simple intrest in all the personal property which may be in the possession of the said Mary Easley at the time of her death or which she may have interest in or title to at her deceased which interest where   vested in one by virtue of the last ill and testament of my father Miller W. Easley the the ____ of said interest will more fully appearby a reference to said will. Now for the consideration of $300.00 to me in hand paid the receipt of which hereby acknowledged I have this day bargained and sold and do hereby convey to Jacob Kline my fee simple interest in remainder to said tract of land and personal property before mentioned to have and to hold the same to him and his heirs forever.
